The secluded Koli community of Mahul (south west of Chembur) serve up their traditional Koli recipes alongside an array of talented local artists and performers. Make it a day out with bird-watching in the afternoon and the festival in the evening. Allow local fishermen to take you by boat to see migrating flamingos making Mumbai their breeding home at this time of year. This Festival in the lead up to and in association with Mumbai Festival has yet to be discovered by the majority of Mumbaikars and visitors to the city. To reach from south Mumbai take the toll road from Sewri (Mahul Road) which turns right to Mahul village. Park near the Hanuman Temple (right) as you enter the village and walk through the welcoming main road past the Temple until you come to the village recreation grounds. Friday 5 to Sunday 7 February. 6.00 p.m. until late. |
